Everything You Should Keep In Mind When Buying A Swimsuit

04 Dec.,2023

Comfort and confidence with swimwear can mean different things for different women, believes Melanie Travis, founder of Andie Swim. "For me, honestly I want to forget I’m even wearing a swimsuit, so I can live in the moment and not fuss with anything."

Chloe says she wants to wear whatever makes her feel good and knows that a bathing suit is right when she puts it on and says “ooh, I look hot.” And as Stephanie and Kate say, “[A swimsuit] should be totally comfortable and make you feel beautiful. If it does, you’ll know and want it in every color!”

Something else to keep in mind is what kind of activities you’ll be doing in the swimsuit. For example, Kit prefers a string bikini for tanning but if she’s going for a surf, she prefers a full piece with thick straps or long sleeves for sun protection. Accordingly, Stephanie and Kate, say: “You should think about what you want to do in the suit. Are you planning on surfing and swimming or paddle-boarding, running after your kids or just taking Instagram shots by the pool? You would probably want more coverage and support in a suit that you plan to be active in than one that is more for lounging. Also, consider your body type and the level of coverage and support overall that you will be most comfortable with.”

Melanie points out that different activities can demand different features from a swimsuit. Accordingly, she recommends Andie Swim's the Catalina for lap swimming because it's more secure but for a nice tan, she goes for a two piece with removable straps, like the Valencia.
