It'll take some digging, like in a real printed phone book, but I've had great luck with scrap dealers and recyclers. Call them up and ask if they sell to the public. The last place I found is mostly a recycler, but they're super nice and if I have a specific need, they'll dig through the good stuff and sell it by the pound.<BR><BR>I don't know where you're at, but at least in Milwaukee there is a large scrap dealer that actually welcomes us hobbyists and artists to browse the yard. When I lived closer to Chicago, there was a little place in the ghetto that had tons of different usable metals, all packed in a terrifying storefront complete with the worlds stinkiest dog. <BR><BR>You'll pay by the pound at scrap prices, but you won't always find exactly what you want. Also, bring a magnet and maybe a little file to try to figure out what you're buying, since it often isn't marked well or at all.<BR><BR>Diamond plate is expensive stuff any way you slice it, though.<BR><BR>edit: Try the Craigslist "materials" section, too.
