Rack Supported Buildings

19 Oct.,2023

A key advantage of a rack supported building is the elimination of building columns within a facility. Some of these facilities have been engineered with ceilings greater than 40 feet. A typical rack support building is designed with a Drive-in, Push Back, or Automated Systems layout. These facilities are justifiable to our customers because the wind and snow loads only add an incremental amount of additional load to the structure. The additional steel required in the rack structure is far less than the material required to provide a free standing facility.

Benefits:

  • Reduces overall construction cost and lead time for building occupancy
  • Maximizes storage
  • Decreases wasted space throughout
  • Eliminates stand-alone building columns
  • Augments very dense storage solutions (often used with Drive-In, Push Back or Automatic Storage & Retrieval Systems)
