Issey Miyake is a Japanese designer that is known for his tech-driven clothing design, perfumes, and accessories like bags, sunglasses, and watches.
Miyake cuts a garment’s shape first, sews, and then pleats the finished form. In contrast to the conventional method of pleating the fabric and then cutting it to the design, this ‘garment pleating‘ technique is Miyaki’s most iconic creation.
First launched in 1988, the pleats line Pleats Please became the brand of its own with the launch of the Spring Summer 1994 collection.
The tapered-leg technical pleated trousers featured in this blog post are the perfect introduction piece from Pleats Please Issey Miyake, and I am pleased with the purchase. Mine is the non-cropped black tapered pair.
What I absolutely love about these trousers is how lightweight, breathable, and comfortable the fabric is. They are crease-proof, easily packable, and the black really goes with everything.
