In May, coal imports reached 36.04 million tonnes, a decrease of 17.7% from 43.82 million tonnes in May 2024. The monthly figure also dropped 4.7% from April’s 37.83 million tonnes.
The value of May’s coal imports totaled USD 2.59 billion, down 38.7% year-on-year and 7.1% from the previous month. Based on these figures, the average import price was estimated at USD 71.9 per tonne—USD 24.5 lower than a year earlier and USD 1.8 lower than in April.
