The facility’s initial annual capacity is 10 GWh, sufficient to supply batteries for around 200,000 electric vehicles. Key clients include Renault and other European automakers. According to earlier announcements, total capacity is set to reach 24 GWh by 2030, with potential to scale up to 40 GWh. Beyond EV battery production, the Douai plant is expected to expand into energy storage, smart charging infrastructure, and battery recycling, forming a full-spectrum green energy industrial hub in the region.

Speaking at the event, President Macron called the project “a new chapter in France’s green industrial transformation” and described it as a symbol of the country’s broader push to revive industry and accelerate energy transition under the ‘Choose France’ initiative.
